Ross Potter (WA/QLD)

Just off the coast of Fremantle, the colossal migration route of the humpback whale intersects with the Gage Roads channel, to the East of Wadjemup (Rottnest) Island. One of these gentle giants and long distance travellers will be rendered with detailed accuracy, at a fully life-size scale by West Australian artist Ross Potter. Witness this West End humpback as it is progressively revealed in graphite on a very long roll of paper over the course of the sixteen days.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding body and advisory body. Whale is supported by the State Government through the Department of Culture and the Arts. Whale is co-presented with the Western Australian Maritime Museum.
